プロジェクト

Realization of energy/material circulation technology based on biomass resources

Name

Hiroshi Yabu
Professor/Principal Investigator
WPI-AIMR, Tohoku University
CSO, AZUL Energy, Inc.

Outline of Research

We are developing a sheet air battery using AZUL catalyst, an oxygen reduction catalyst developed at Tohoku University’s Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR). In this project, we aim to implement this sheet battery into small, lightweight IoT devices.

Research Purpose

Developing air batteries that use AZUL catalyst and implementing them in IoT devices

Expected Effect

This project will contribute to the creation of next generation IoT devices for healthcare, such as wearable oxygen meters.

Achievement

AZUL Energy Inc. is a start-up that originated at Tohoku University. In collaboration with Maxell Holdings, AZUL Energy is working on the mass production of sheet air batteries that utilize AZUL catalyst. The companies are also conducting joint development to implement this technology in IoT devices.
