How to use the shared equipment
How to use the shared equipment
The process depends on the organization with which you are affiliated. Please check below for the appropriate process for your organization.
1. If you are a MaSC tenant or a member of any of the following: Institute for Materials Research, Institute of Fluid Science, Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, and the Research Institute of Electrical Communication
- Check the equipment’s availability on the reservation calendar, which can be found on the MaSC website.
You need to log in to view the reservation calendar.
*If you need an ID and password, please contact the MaSC Support Office by e-mail. - Make a reservation by e-mail with the MaSC Support Office.
masc-equipment[at]grp.tohoku.ac.jp Please use @ instead of *. - After the MaSC Support Office confirms the reservation with the person in charge of the equipment, a reservation will be sent to the person who wishes to use the equipment.
- Submit the application form to the MaSC Support Office before the day of use.
- Receive the keycard for the shared equipment room at the MaSC Support Office counter.
- Write the actual usage time in the usage book (in units of 15 minutes).
- Return the keycard to the MaSC Support Room after using the equipment.
- Pay the usage fees by transfer.
2. For Tohoku University staff, students, and non-university users other than those listed in category 1 above
- Create an account with the Tohoku University Technical Support Center (TSC)
- Make a reservation by e-mail to the MaSC Support Office.
masc-equipment[at]grp.tohoku.ac.jp Please use @ instead of *. - After the MaSC Support Office confirms the reservation with the person in charge of the equipment, the MaSC Support Office will notify the person who wishes to use the equipment that the reservation has been completed.
- Receive the keycard for the shared equipment room at the MaSC support room counter.
- Write the actual usage time in the usage book (in units of 15 minutes).
*The usage fee will be charged based on the time written in the usage book. - When you have finished using the equipment, return the keycard to the MaSC Support Office.
- Users from outside of the university will be sent a bill for their fees, while those from within the university can transfer the appropriate fees.
*Regardless of affiliation, first-time users must receive an explanation of the equipment. If you are a first-time user, please let us know in advance.
(For the FIB/SEM dual-beam system, please contact the person in charge of the instrument for analysis and processing.)
