Outline of Research
“Decarbonization” and “resource circulation” are important initiatives for building a circular economy to realize a sustainable society. This co-creation research center will promote “decarbonization” and “resource circulation” through cutting-edge basic research into sustainable materials that combines Tohoku University’s strengths in composite materials research and synchrotron radiation analysis technology with Epson’s Dry Fiber Technology. Accelerate the social implementation of ”decarbonization” and “resource circulation”.
Research Purpose
We will establish cellulose fiber-reinforced plastic composite material technology that solves the mechanical properties issues of bioplastics and recycled plastics, as well as its molding technology, and aim to implement it into products.
Expected Effect
We can expect to build a circular economy system that realizes “decarbonization,” “resource circulation,” and “eliminate use of exhaustible underground resources” in the field of plastic materials that are widely used in various products.
