Outline of Research

3DC Inc. is a Tohoku University-affiliated carbon materials startup, aiming to commercialize Graphene mesosponge (GMS). GMS is a new type of porous carbon and its main application market is expected to be next generation batteries, super capacitor and fuel cells.

Research Purpose

Batteries are as important as renewable energy to achieve a carbon neutral society. On the other hand, because the production of the battery itself requires enormous energy and a large amount of rare metals, There is a strong demand for battery material reduction and longer battery life.
The materials we are researching have been developed with the aim of breaking the trade-off between reducing battery materials and extending battery life.

Expected Effect

・By promoting the evolution of batteries, we will contribute to accelerating the spread of electrified markets such as EVs.
・By extending the life of batteries, it contributes to the reduction of waste and energy consumption.
