Tohoku University Material Solutions Center (MaSC) is a cooperative base between industry, academics and government that has been set up in a joint effort by Tohoku University and its Institute for Materials Research, Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advance Metals, and Institute of Fluid Science and uses grants for facilities expenses from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

Center for Innovation and Business
The mission of the Center for Innovation and Business is to promote a commercialization of Tohoku University's research results. We support and nurture research teams in Tohoku University, depending on different stages of research results, toward commercialization, and help them create ideas and plans to lead a possible establishment of start-up companies as a next step. The Center for Innovation and Business include specialists from the URA Center of Research Promotion Department, and Head Office of Enterprize Partnerships (including Intellectual Property Division, Industry Liaison Division), We support research teams to create business models and business plans, and implement the "Business Incubation Program(BIP)" which is a commercialization promotion joint-research program under Tohoku University. In teams of development of university-led start-up businesses, we will coordinate with a subsidiary venture capital company of Tohoku University named as "Tohoku Universtiy Venture Partners Co.,Ltd." , and other private venture capital companies.
